Food & Beverage Summer Internship
Location : Vail, CO
The Sonnenalp is looking for passionate college students who are ready to get their foot in the door in the Food and Beverage world.
During your internship you could rotate through multiple food and beverage outlets and positions.
Wage : $14.00 / hour, No tips
Primary Purpose of Position
The Summer intern is responsible for interacting with guests, maintaining the reservations book, professionally seating guests, provide courteous and efficient service to all guests.
They will also be support for servers. That includes being responsible for clearing and resetting of all servers sections and assist with running food.
The Intern will also be expected to attend leadership meetings and present an operational improvement to the Sonnenalp team.
To receive credit for this internship a Internship Checklist must be completed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Set restaurant for business : responsible for all assigned opening, closing and weekly side work duties
- Assist Servers with resetting tables, running food, greeting guest, making reservations
- Assist Servers and Bartenders with food and beverage service to guests, keeping water / drinks full and pre-setting tables
- Accommodate special requests for guests whenever possible.
- Upon seating, offer guests a menu and inform them of their servers name. Inspect table for proper presentation and completeness.
- Stock service stations and help with inventory for all necessary items
- Adhere to LHW standards at all times
- Relay messages to servers and support staff as needed.
- Participate in related F&B training / seminar program
- Act as a responsible, personable representative of the Sonnenalp team.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the manager on duty.
Education / Experience
- Completing a Hospitality or Food and Beverage specific Degree
- Hospitality or food and beverage experience preferred
- Personable disposition which is maintained in pressure situations required
Special Skills / Equipment
- Ability to operate in a hospitable, cheerful manner during high stress situations required
- Must be a team player and demonstrate organizational skills.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills and confidence.
Essential Physical Requirements
- Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
- Position primarily performed indoors assisting a variety of guests.
- Ability to lift up to 20lbs
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
- Fluency in other languages a plus.
- Be flexible and willing to assist as needed to ensure all restaurant standards are met
