Brief Description of Duties
The University of the District of Columbia, College of Arts and Sciences, Division of Education, Health, and Social Work invites applications for a nine-month, full-time, visiting non-tenure track faculty appointment in Social Work with a target start date of August 16, .

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate all aspects of the field education experience
- Assist practicum students and field agencies in meeting the learning standards and educational requirements of the practicum experience
- Develop, build, and maintain and evaluate collaborative relationships with field agencies
- Support re-accreditation efforts, including data collection and reporting
- Coordinate and deliver student and field instructor orientation
- Develop and maintain practicum policies / procedures, manual and other documents
- Assist practicum students and field agencies in meeting the learning standards and educational requirements of the practicum experience
- Teach practice, practicum and elective courses
- Serve as academic advisor
Minimum Job Requirements
- A Master’s degree in Social Work from a Council on Social Work Education accredited institution
- A minimum of two years of post-master’s practice experience in social work.
- Undergraduate social work teaching experience
- A demonstrated record of scholarly production, including practice related research
- Demonstrated experience with the social work accreditation or reaffirmation process.
- Experience in curriculum design and development, including utilization of experiential teaching methods.
- Licensed as a social work practitioner (or eligible to apply for licensure) in the District of Columbia.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Outstanding communication skills.
- Ability to engage with diverse groups and show sensitivity to variations across age, gender, socioeconomic status, ethnicity, language, cultural, national origin, and prior training and educational experience.
- Previous experience with supervising clinical and / or field experiences
- Ability to provide leadership to the field education program through practice experience, field instruction experience, and administrative and / or other relevant academic and professional activities in social work.
A candidate for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor shall be required to meet the following qualifications :
- An appropriate terminal degree or agree to complete this degree within a period of time to be specified in the terms of the initial contract; and
- At least three years of full-time teaching experience, including two years in an institution of higher education.
Appropriate professional experience and achievements may be substituted when formal teaching experience is limited or absent.
When formal teaching experience is limited or absent, the candidate shall be required to demonstrate verifiable potential for effective teaching.
A candidate for appointment to the rank of Associate Professor shall be required to meet the following
qualifications :
- An earned doctorate or the highest appropriate credential in the field of specialization, or experience and achievements comparable to the doctorate;
- A record of scholarship and professional growth; and
- At least five years of full-time teaching experience in an institution of higher education, including three years as an Assistant Professor.
