Compensation : Pay Range : $19.80 - $32.15 / hour- $5,000 new hire sign-on bonus (Full-Time only)

Unit Details :
The Unit for Neuroscience Nursing is a 20-bed acute care unit that provides comprehensive treatment plans and advanced post-surgical care for patients with neurological and spine disorders like epilepsy and glioblastomas.
This unit also treats Neuro patients undergoing ketamine infusion therapy and those who have an externalized shunt or lumbar drain.
Nurses on this unit have a unique opportunity to participate in a team nursing care model that partners each nurse with one patient care technician (PCT), which allows nurses to practice at the top of their scope and provide the highest quality of care and overall patient experience.

- Full-Time AM : 3 12-hour shifts per week
- Full-Time PM : 3 12-hour shifts per week

Job Description : Under general supervision, to provide nursing care to patients based on the nursing process, UAB Hospital Standards of Nursing Care, and UAB Hospital policies and procedures while ensuring quality of care.
To orient patients and family members to surrounding environment, acting as a patient advocate. To collect patient assessment data and notify RN of potential problems.
To evaluate patient s response to care and report findings to RN, document delivery of patient care, effectively respond to emergency situations, demonstrate positive interpersonal skills, meet patient s educational needs, and serve as a role model to other members of the patient care team.
Qualifications
Graduate from an accredited Practical Nursing Program required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Currently licensed or licensed by endorsement as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.
Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment.
Depending on the unit / department, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and / or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required.
