Description
Summary :
Responsible for practicing medicine under the guidance and supervision of a physician. Examines patients, diagnoses diseases, determines treatments, and prescribes medication.
Must graduate from an accredited educational program for physician assistants.
Requirements :
- Examine patients and determine reason for visit.
- Provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive healthcare services.
- Order and interpret laboratory tests and x-rays.
- Prescribe treatment, therapy or medication.
- Apply antiseptics, dressings, sutures, bandages, and other wound care treatments.
- Splint and cast broken bones.
- Employ stabilization measures in emergency situations.
- Administer inoculations
- Supervise medical technicians, nurses, and assistants.
- Confer often with supervising physician.
- Supervisory and management skills; ability to manage own time and that of others; ability to foster a cooperative, friendly and mutually supportive work environment
- Compassion : Service orientation and genuine desire to assist others
- Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities, including symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health care measures.
- Familiarity with Microsoft applications (Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Familiarity with electronic health information management systems and workflows
Qualifications :
- Master's Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development (CME) and ethical practice.
- At least three years of experience required
- Bilingual (Spanish / English) preferred
- Current NY State Physician Assistant License
- Current BCLS
- Current Infection Control
- Current Child Abuse Certification
