SUMMARY
The Project Engineer is responsible for electro-mechanical projects in the lettershop facilities within Data-Mail, Inc. The projects executed will be focused on the continuous improvement of our production assets as well as the research and acquisition of new capital equipment that will also center on productivity within the operation.
The project engineer will also be responsible for equipment troubleshooting, where a higher level of technical knowledge is required.
Participation and leadership in continuous improvement projects and process development will also be part of routine responsibility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Machine design and modificationExisting machine modifications (Electro / Mechanical)New machine and / or machine component design and installationTesting of alternative solutionsAutomation
- Process development
- Creation of procedures, standards and manuals / guidlines
- Troubleshooting and repair of electro-mechanical equipment
- Controls design work as well as basic programming changes as needed in PLC control logic
- Participation / leadership in maintaining and controlling spare parts inventory to maintain plant reliability. Assist in physical inventories.
- Participation / leadership in the Continuous Improvement process
- Engaged participation in plant Safety practices
- Maintain complete equipment files, logs, and drawings for all designated equipment
- Assist in maintaining and controlling spare parts inventory to maintain plant reliability. Assist in physical inventories.
- Participate in the administrative maintenance of the plant procedures, operating manuals, technical references, prints and diagrams and preventive / predictive maintenance records
- Conduct troubleshooting and analysis on Equipment PLC’s and PC control systems
- Fully support and participate in Safety and Regulatory Compliance Programs
- Data acquisition and analysis Use of DMAIC principles to guide improvement priority
- Machine software enhancement
- Maintain confidentiality of company-sensitive data.
- Keep manager / supervisor informed of activities and situations that will impact the achievement of corporate or department goals and objectives.
- Perform other related duties as required to achieve the goals and objectives of the department and company
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma
- Four-year college degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of machine design and industrial experience
- Experience in automation and robotics
