Cypress Creek Hospital features individual units for adolescents and adults and offers inpatient acute care, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs.

We currently have opportunities for full-time Mental Health Technicians.
Working under the direction of a RN, the Mental Health Technician functions as an active part of the treatment team and provides continuous care ensuring the safety of our patients.
Daily responsibilities include (not limited to) : accurately administer and record vital signs; observe, assess, and document patient’s appearance, behavior, or ability to work towards treatment plan goals;
effectively and professionally communicate with clinical team, staff, patients, and customers.
Job Duties / Responsibilities :
- Identify patients’ problems, needs, and strengths; provides verbal input into the development of treatment plan goals and interventions.
- Communicate regularly with the Charge Nurse regarding patient care concerns and carries out corrective actions.
- Ensure that interventions are based on familiarity with patient history, assessment, and treatment plans.
- Observe patients for changes that require immediate intervention and take appropriate action; continually assess behaviors that indicate changes in the patient behavior;
adheres to guidelines for patients on special status i.e., suicide, sexual, assaultive behaviors, or AWOL precautions.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as room cleaning, grooming, etc. and assists with preparation for discharge.
- Maintain professional boundaries in relationships with patients.
- Assist patients in following community rules and guidelines and in forming positive peer relationships.
- Communicates with patients and families in a manner which projects empathy, helpfulness, and desire to positively impact patient’s treatment.
- Provide accurate information on shift-to-shift report and remains on the unit while incoming shift is in report.
- Maintain patient, program, department, and related documentations ensuring that documentation is timely, accurate and legible.
- Ensure patient location log, 1 : 1, and status-based check sheets are completed on a continuous basis.
- Understand and implements appropriate action to avoid power struggles with patients; work as an effective team member to establish a milieu which minimizes the occurrence of aggressive behavior.
- Maintains a safe, orderly, and therapeutic physical environment for patients.
- Attends mandatory staff meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Job Requirements :
- High School or GED diploma, bachelor’s degree in psychology or related field preferred.
- Two (2) years related experience in a mental health role or a combination of education and experience totaling a minimum of two (2) years.
