Job Summary / Basic Function
The Communication Equipment Room Assistant’s primary responsibility is to check equipment in and out of the CER.
- Check Equipment in and out of the CER
- Manage the online equipment and room sign in / out system
- Maintain cleanliness of the CERWipe down counters when dirty.Clean up after yourself when eating in the CER
- Maintain an equipment damaged / broken / missing log to document any issues.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Open / close the rooms as required and depending on your shift.
- Keep lights off and rooms locked when not in use.
- Maintain the battery charging stations.When batteries come back, place them in the charger or to be charged areaWhen batteries have a full charge remove them from the charger and place them in the correct charged battery bin.
Do not leave batteries in devices or on tables / counters.
Required Qualifications
- Have experience interacting and working with people.
- Have a positive attitude, and the ability to work well with other students, faculty, and staff.
- Be detailed oriented to ensure equipment is not lost or misplaced.
- Must complete 3 required clearances (PA Criminal Background, Child Abuse History, and FBI Fingerprints)
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of audio and video equipment.
- Understanding of the broadcast and media industry.
- Minimum 2.5 overall GPA.
- Basic technical knowledge to help determine issues with equipment.
Job Duties Duties and Responsibilities :
- Following an online request for equipment, collect all equipment requested and perform a short test to ensure it works.
- Using the inventory control system, sign out equipment to faculty, staff, or students.Any student signing out equipment must have a current semester agreement form signed by the student and their professor.
- Using the inventory control system, check in returned equipment individuallyCheck to make sure all pieces and parts are returned with the equipmentTripods must have tripod platesBatteries must be removed from camera and scanned separatelyMedia must be removed from recording devices Return the equipment to its proper location after checking it in.
Check students in and out of editing rooms, studios, and control rooms.Assist with removing old equipment to electronic recyclingFirst line of defense for equipment problems or troubleshooting an issue.
