Job Summary / Overview
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Operations Manager will ensure the site has people and infrastructure in place to deliver on-time production of high-quality company products in a cost-efficient and timely fashion to customers.
This leader will also be responsible for driving continuous and significant improvements in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, cost, and working capital.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manages and prioritizes an active safety program on-site. Maintains the continued safety of all production employees in assigned areas, including machining, assembly, paint, and shipping.
- Drives rapid, significant and sustainable improvement in on-time delivery, service level and lead time.
- Leads, plans, and directs production activities and establishes production priorities in a dynamic and complex environment with short lead times.
- Actively responds to demand fluctuations, production issues, material availability, work flow, personnel challenges, and equipment reliability to ensure effective operations, high quality, on time delivery, and lowest possible cost.
- Adheres to the Quality Management System and associated processes.
- Improves quality performance objectives including warranty, customer complaints, scrap, and first pass yield.
- Sustains and continually improves the CMCO Lean Business System in conjunction with Manufacturing Engineering Manager.
- Leads lean activities through oversight of improvement projects, lean daily management, visual workplace, SQDC reporting, root cause analysis, and associated corrective and preventative actions.
- Develops and oversees the departmental budget headcount, hours worked, OT, and expenses.
- Maintains adherence to established processes, production transactions and material movement is completed to ensure transaction integrity, timeliness, and inventory accuracy.
- Compiles, analyzes, and reviews production and performance data and utilizes to monitor, control, and improve performance.
- Champions the vision of winning as a team by providing feedback, focus, and direction to plant personnel to assure knowledge and support of plant manufacturing priorities and requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities
- Knowledge of manufacturing operations and techniques.
- Experience with and understanding of ERP / MRP.
- Strong team building, decision-making, and people management skills
- Working knowledge of Continuous Improvement tools and lean manufacturing.
- Understanding of all phases of project management, including initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing.
- Excellent personal time management skills, with ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in the use of analytical tools and techniques to analyze data, identify root cause, and lead problem resolution efforts to implement effective solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or related field required. Master’s degree preferred
- 3+ years of related experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience in lean culture development and lean tool implementation
