Alpert Jewish Family Service (Alpert JFS) is seeking a Mental Health Therapist to provide direct service for one of our partner agencies (ARC) focusing on clients with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
The Mental Health Therapist will be located at their south campus location in Lake Worth.
Mental Health Therapist Essential responsibilities :
- Identify clients of the ARC who may benefit from individual and / or group therapy.
- Assist in strengthening clients’ abilities to function and / or adapt to or resolve environmental or personal situations or stresses.
- Treat patients across the life span suffering with mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, mood disorders, etc.
- Conduct thorough psychosocial assessments and evaluate for appropriate DSM-5 Diagnosis.
- Collaborate with JFS Psychiatric team, if needed to develop and implement treatment plans.
- Collaborate, when necessary, with colleagues and / or supervisor to analyze and consolidate treatment strategy to provide comprehensive services.
- Conduct initial evaluations (60 min) and follow up therapy sessions (30-60 min) to ensure comprehensive care of patients.
- Organize and lead groups; could include topics such as social skill and managing emotions.
- Available to clients during the day when needed including but not limited to observing group activities and offering in vivo guidance and support.
- Training for ARC employees pertaining to working with clients with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
- Identify special needs, problems or high-risk situations with clients to strategize services and to coordinate community services when appropriate.
Devise letters or reports for client advocacy when necessary.
- Formulate clinical documentation to meet expected professional practice as well as accreditation standards and enter into Electronic Health Records System timely and accurately.
- Responsible for ensuring reporting requirements and metrics are met and recorded.
- Attend training to enhance skill level and maintain professional license, including in-services and staff development opportunities within the agency.
- Participate in weekly Staff and Counseling meetings.
Requirements :
- Master’s or higher-level degree from an accredited school in an area of Mental Health required; a valid license in the State of Florida preferred but not required
- Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities preferred.
- Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records and other technologies.
- Problem solving, analytical, communication and crisis management skills are necessary to assist clients and / or caregivers who may be in distress.
- Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment.
