Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Executive Dean of Faculty and Academics or designee, the Assistant Dean of Online Education and Resources will oversee the implementation of online / remote education, library / information services and to lead faculty / staff training initiatives.
Supervisory Role Oral and written instructions are received from the Executive Dean of Faculty and Academics or designee.
The Assistant Dean of Online Education and Resources may supervise administrative, professional, support staff and student workers. Duties & Responsibilities
1. Responsible for the development and implementation of strategic online / remote education.
2. Identify and implement appropriate learning management systems to enhance teaching and learning.
3. Assess, develop and implement short- and long-term plans to increase the quality, scalability and sustainability of student learning opportunities.
4. Develop innovative opportunities to grow online programs and courses.
5. Manage and direct the planning, development, implementation and coordination of the college’s learning resources.
6. Oversee the Martin Luther King Jr. Library and Information Commons at both campuses to ensure faculty and student needs are met on a consistent basis.
7. Maintained and utilize effectively and efficiently, the Center for Teaching and Learning.
8. Develop, facilitate and manage professional development of faculty and staff to ensure deliverables meet desired outcomes.
9. Work closely with key stakeholders to identify and design flexible learning environments that support high quality instruction.
10. Develop and oversee programs and services to ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulations.
11. Maintain strict confidentiality and security of student and staff records.
12. Prepare routine, special and ancillary reports as required.

Bend, twist, climb, push, pull, and lift. Additional Requirements Minimum Qualifications Experience (number of years), Knowledge and / or Abilities
1. Master’s degree.
2. Experience in the development of online and hybrid coursework.
3. Experience in creating master courses and pedagogical techniques for online learning.
4. Demonstrated knowledge of computer applications including Moodle, publisher learning management system (LMS) platforms, and the Microsoft Office suite.
5. Demonstrated knowledge of modern technology and its use in the classroom.
6. Demonstrated ability to work independently, under pressure, to prioritize assignments, and to exercise good judgment at all times.
7. Experience working effectively with diverse academic, staff and student populations as well as external constituents.
8. Strong organizational and excellent interpersonal skills.
9. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Education Requirements Master’s Degree Licenses and Certifications (including e.
g., CPR, first aid, driver’s license, etc.) Preferred Qualifications Experience (number of years), Knowledge and / or Abilities
1. Doctorate’s degree in a related discipline.
2. Five or more years of experience in online instruction or involvement in training projects, preferably in higher education at the community college level.
3. Experience with the use of instructional technology and distance education and / or hybrid instruction, preferably teaching experience in higher education.
