Position Title : Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) - EmPath Unit
Position Overview : We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our EmPath Unit.
The EmPath Unit is dedicated to providing specialized care for individuals experiencing acute psychiatric crises. As a member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a critical role in assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with mental health disorders in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Responsibilities :
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and assessments of patients presenting with acute psychiatric symptoms.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, as appropriate, in accordance with state regulations and best practice guidelines.
- Provide crisis intervention and stabilization services for patients in acute distress.
- Facilitate therapeutic groups and individual counseling sessions to address patients' psychiatric and psychosocial needs.
- Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and holistic care.
- Participate in treatment team meetings, case conferences, and clinical supervision sessions as scheduled.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, treatment plans, and interventions in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Demonstrate a commitment to cultural competence, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of patient care delivery.
Qualifications :
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Current licensure as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) in the state of Virginia.
- Certification as a PMHNP by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in psychiatric / mental health nursing, preferably in an acute care setting.
- Strong assessment, diagnostic, and therapeutic skills with a patient-centered approach.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation and patient care management.
