Summary :
The Registered Nurse Clinical Educator II (RNCE) will assess, plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate the clinical opportunities and strategies for improving delivery of diabetic patient care and staff education regarding such.
The RNCE will act as a liaison with all multi disciplinary departments and services concerning diabetes education. The RNCE will develop and provide diabetes education for patients and their families on an inpatient and outpatient basis as directed.

The hospital (in partnership with Baylor College of Medicine) is the only academic children’s hospital in San Antonio. Our highly specialized services meet the unique medical needs of children, from Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care to Children’s Emergency Services, the latest treatments for deformities of the spine including titanium rib implants and halo traction, a Heart Center, a specialized asthma program, a highly regarded Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, and growing maternal services to include consultation, delivery, and maternal fetal medicine.
Requirements : Education :
Education :
- Graduate of an accredited RN program required
- BSN preferred
- Bilingual (English / Spanish) preferred
Experience :
- Minimum of three years clinical RN experience required
- Minimum of three years experience managing the care of patients with both Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes
- Familiarity with insulin pumps preferred
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications :
- Current Texas RN license required
- Certified Diabetic Educator (CDE) preferred. If not CDE at time of hire, successful completion of CDE exam within 2 years of hire / transfer date is required to remain in position
- Current BLS certification required American Heart Association
