GeoLogics is seeking a talented Staff System Safety Engineer experienced in developing and implementing a System Safety Program IAW MIL-STD-882 and familiar with implementing a Software Safety Program IAW AOP-52 and DoD guidelines in Orlando, FL.
A successful candidate will employ safety analysis techniques which will be performed on the end item and its subsystems.
This is a full-time 12 month contract with the potential for telework options. REQUIRED : US CITIZENSHIP and an Interim Secret Clearance or Active Secret PAY RATE : $70-80.

W2 Hourly Contract Only with Limited Benefits LOCATION : Orlando, FL REQUIRED SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS : Bachelor's degree with 8-10 years experience or a Masters 6-8 years experience Experience developing and implementing a System Safety Program IAW MIL-STD-882Developing and evaluating system safety requirementsFamiliarity with implementing a Software Safety Program IAW AOP-52 and DoD guidelinesProficient knowledge of MIL-STD-882 and its associated analysesStrong written and oral communication skillsAbility to make formal presentations to large groupsInteracts well in a team atmosphere with engineers, suppliers, program managers and customersDesired Skills : -Experience supporting independent government Safety Review Boards-Knowledge of Human Factors Engineering-Familiarity with missile and launcher systems-Model-based engineering knowledge-Experience with DOORS requirements application-Candidate should be a self-starter capable of performing tasks with little direction-Effective analytical problem solving skills, the ability to perform detail-oriented work with a high degree of accuracy-Able to learn and work with System Safety specific software toolsResponsibilities-Primary job responsibility will be performing hazard analysis in accordance with MIL-STD-882 and contractual requirements.
- Analyzes and recommends safety features and controls for system design, software, training and procedures to mitigate or eliminate hazards.
- Performs and supports the development of safety documentation to satisfy customer and contractual requirements.-Works with systems and software engineering on architecture definition, use cases and generates software safety analyses in accordance with government guidelines.
- Work independently with minimal oversight, based on professional experience and educational background, while helping mentor and train early career SSEs in the System Safety discipline.
Additional job duties may include the following : -Support the program by developing hazard analyses, software safety assessments, hazardous material management planning and execution.
- Analyze and recommend safety criteria in system design, equipment and procedures to control or eliminate hazards.-Prepare and deliver presentations at technical reviews and customer briefings.
- Flow down system safety requirements to suppliers and verify design implementation.-Assist in requirements development and verification.
- Reviews specifications, technical documentation, and design changes for impacts to system safety.-Support customer and test / operational range requirements-Participates in the development of testing activities to ensure safety requirements are satisfied.
- Prepare technical documentation and presentation material to support various independent safety board meetings to gain approval on system design.
- Participates in accident investigations involving damage to products or related facilities and assists in identification of causes and corrective actions.
