As part of a diverse and hardworking team of specialists, engineers, and designers, you will contribute to the development of systems safety and reliability products for the Cargo variant of our Lunar Lander.

You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of the next lunar lander. As a System Safety Engineer at Blue Origin, you will work with systems engineering teams to generate and verify compliance with safety and reliability requirements.

You will help engineers identify areas of opportunity for design improvements, minimize risk to people and property, and increase the probability of mission success.

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building the sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the Lunar Surface.

Requirements :

  • Develop Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analyses (FMECA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Hazard Reports, reliability analysis, and developing mitigation plans.
  • Support engineering teams in identifying areas of opportunity for design improvements, minimize risk to people and property, and increase the probability of mission success.
  • Participate in gated reviews to communicate safety and reliability analyses.
  • Apply a variety of technical principles and tools in Systems Engineering such as CONOPs development, requirements analysis, and interface definition.

Qualifications :

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in aerospace engineering or related field with 5+ years of experience in aerospace and / or aviation manufacturing.
  • Experience with performing safety analyses including Hazard Analysis, FMECA, Fault Tree Analysis, and Human Error Assessments.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, fluid schematics, and electrical circuit diagrams.
  • Ability to generate metrics and report on program system safety status.
  • Strong safety and mission assurance fundamentals.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate technical information to non-technical partners.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.

S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired :

  • Experience performing system safety and / or reliability analyses on satellites or human-rated in-space systems.
  • Experience performing compliance assessment of system safety processes and products against external standards including Range Safety, NASA, FAA, MIL-STD-882, or ARP-4761.
  • Experience with certification of human-rated space systems.
  • Experience with systems engineering modeling tools, such as Rhapsody or Cameo.

Compensation Range for :

CO applicants is $110,055.00-$154,077.00; WA applicants is $120,060.00-$168,084.00.

Other site ranges may differ.
