The Licensed Clinical Social Worker will be a key member of an interdisciplinary, team-based program providing care to patients in the Post COVID Program at UT Health Austin, Dell Medical School.
The Division of Health Social Work serves as a centralized hub for social workers and other integrated health providers, fostering an environment that empowers professionals to improve the health and enhance the well-being of patients and families in partnership with patients, families, and communities.
Through cutting-edge models and comprehensive services, the division creates tangible value within the healthcare ecosystem while championing whole-person care and interprofessional collaboration.
Functioning as a formalized collaborative structure, the Division of Health Social Work unites interprofessional missions, cultivating synergies that drive impactful, patient-centric care.
Purpose
The Licensed Clinical Social Worker will provide support to patients recovering from the long-term effects of COVID-19 by addressing their biopsychosocial needs.
The goal is to enhance overall functioning for patients experiencing various medical and / or behavioral health conditions.
Responsibilities
Completes comprehensive bio-psychosocial screenings and assessments of patients, providing psychotherapy utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, supportive therapy, and other clinically indicated modalities.
Offers case management services, connecting patients to resources such as patient assistance programs and community supports.
Provides discipline-specific expertise to patients, caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members on factors that impact chronic illness or other medical conditions, including social determinants of health and innovative approaches to chronic illness care.
Collaborates with an interdisciplinary team using a patient-centered approach and maintains timely documentation in compliance with regulatory and organizational policies.
Facilitates support groups for patients and their families experiencing the lingering effects of COVID-19.
Provides occasional coverage for urgent needs when other social work team members are unavailable. Attends division meetings, integrated practice unit meetings, and continuing education opportunities to support best practices and collaboration.
B uilds and maintains collaborative relationships with community behavioral health providers, creating a network of aligned professionals.
Fosters a highly collaborative approach with clinical team members, and engages with local, regional, and national professional communities
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) and be licensed as a Clinical Social Worker in the state of Texas.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication and collaboration skills, working effectively with a multidisciplinary team that includes physicians, psychologists, social workers, nurses, physician assistants, physical therapists, dietitians, pharmacists, and medical assistants.
A positive, compassionate, and professional attitude when engaging with patients and their families is essential. Candidates should possess excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, along with strong organizational, planning, follow-up, and time management abilities.
Additionally, they should demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be able to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-provider practice environment.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
A minimum of three (3) years of post-degree clinical experience, preferably in a healthcare setting, is required. Experience in conducting assessments and delivering evidence-based treatments to adults is also highly preferred.
Candidates should possess a working knowledge of, or experience with, evidence-based brief intervention, motivational interviewing, and healthcare delivery.
Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is strongly preferred.
Salary Range
$70,000+ depending on qualifications
