Overview :
The Physical Therapy Assistant plays a crucial role in assisting physical therapists in providing treatment and rehabilitation to patients.
They work under the supervision of physical therapists to implement patient care plans and help individuals regain movement and manage pain.
PTAs also provide crucial support with documentation, equipment maintenance, and patient education.
Key Responsibilities :
- Assist in implementing patient care plans
- Provide therapeutic exercises and manual therapy techniques
- Document patient progress and outcomes
- Instruct and educate patients in exercises and activities of daily living
- Assist in maintaining therapy equipment and supplies
- Monitor and report changes in patient status to the physical therapist
- Conduct patient transport and transfer
- Ensure compliance with treatment plans and safety protocols
- Assist in administrative tasks and record keeping
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals
Required Qualifications :
- Associate's degree in Physical Therapy Assistance or related field
- Licensure or certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant
- Hands-on clinical experience in a healthcare setting
- Knowledge of therapeutic techniques and exercise programs
- Understanding of medical terminology and documentation
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Physical fitness and ability to assist patients with mobility
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Knowledge of safety and infection control protocols
