Ambulatory Clinic Nurse / Registered Nurse-RN
Under supervision of a physician or nursing practice manager and following established procedures and precedents, the Ambulatory Clinic Nurse / Registered Nurse-RN assists physician(s) in conducting patient examinations and providing routine treatments.

Education
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
Experience
Two years of experience as a clinic or physician practice nurse in the last three years.
Licensure
Current, active, unencumbered nursing license in the state of practice or multi-state license as applicable.
Credentials
Current CPR from the American Heart Association. Covid 19 vaccination and current Flu vaccination.
Environmental Working Conditions
1. Work sites vary by client and assignments accepted.
2. Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other potentially infectious materials.
3. Position involves walking, leaning, stooping, sitting and fine motor skills.
4. Work may involve assisting in the transfer and repositioning of patients, such as with facility approved devices (e.g., transfer sheet).
5. Visual acuity, color vision and hearing testing may be requested by some clients.
6. Some clients may require on-call status. Some clients may reassign workers based on patient census. Work in healthcare is fast paced;
must be able to work around frequent interruptions. Healthcare workers may face workplace hazards from exposure to chemicals and infectious diseases.
Patients may be confused, irrational, agitated and uncooperative.
Representative Duties and Responsibilities
1. Complies with ATC policies and procedures.
2. Complies with client policies and procedures.
3. Responsible for performing tasks that are within the scope of educational preparation, knowledge, and as permitted by the policies and procedures of ATC, local, state, and federal guidelines;
and the policies of the client requesting the services.
4. Maintains credentials needed to work as a nurse (RN or LNP / LVN).
5. Maintains confidentiality as to patient protected health information in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH).
6. Adheres to infection control policies and procedures; follows hand cleaning guidelines.
7. Adheres to area safety, security, and environmental controls.
8. Provides patient care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that considers ethnicity, cultural diversity, and age appropriateness so that autonomy, patient rights and dignity are preserved.
9. Communicates with patients, families, supervisors, and other team members in an effective and courteous manner.
10. Receives direction and assignments from physicians and supervisory personnel.
11. Responsible for reporting on the condition of patient to the physician and supervisory personnel.
12. Under supervision of a physician or nursing practice manager and following established procedures and precedents, assists physician in conducting patient examinations and providing routine treatments.
13. Reviews patient chart information prior to patient visit to ensure lab and test information is available for physician review.
14. Escorts patients to examination rooms, obtains vital signs and other patient data, and makes patient comfortable while waiting for physician.
15. Completes patient history and physical examination forms.
16. Assists physician during patient examinations by obtaining urine for testing, performing finger punctures for blood testing, conducting other patient-care procedures, and completing necessary forms with information provided by physician.
17. Assists physician with difficult and / or sensitive components of examinations including pap smears and other exams.
18. Prepares patient for EKG tests, conducts tests and records or mounts appropriate EKG strip for inclusion in the patient medical record.
19. Ensures examination rooms are stocked with necessary supplies in order to ensure efficient examination of patients, and orders supplies as necessary.
20. Obtains patient medical record charts, inserts appropriate notes, forms, and test results, and forwards to appropriate party.
21. Obtains specimens for testing, conducts select routine laboratory tests, reports, and records results.
22. Responds to routine patient inquiries and telephone calls and determines initial assessment and appropriate plan of care and relays information to physician.
23. Performs routine patient procedures such as ear washes, obtaining throat cultures, preparing for and / or providing vaccines and injections.
24. Maintains patient medical records, and orders tests and diagnostics in preparation for treatments and surgeries.
25. Schedules appointments and referrals.
26. Performs related clerical duties such as typing forms and notes, dictating, completing fee slips, coding and compiling patient chart information.
27. Uses technology effectively, such as electronic charting and bar scanning.
28. Able to wear personal protective equipment (e.g., face mask, goggles, latex / non-latex gloves) as needed.
29. Ability to work effectively within role independently and with other team members.
30. Ability to organize and complete work in a timely manner.
31. Ability to read, write and effectively communicate in English.
32. Makes abuse reports as directed by law and facility protocol.
33. Reports incidents and accidents to client supervisors and ATC in a timely fashion.
34. Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.
