Job Summary
The Office of Black Student Services(OBSS) aims to incorporate high-impact practices that promote academic support while increasing retention among at-promise students.
We are open to all students regardless of academic standing. We strive to provide a supportive learning environment that embodies principles used throughout the African Diaspora at California State University, San Bernardino.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
- Responsible for maintaining professional etiquette by assisting with program outreach (phone calls, emails, social media responses).
- Maintain files and records of all programs and events and ensure that necessary paperwork and documentation are completed in a timely manner.
- Assist with planning, developing, and implementing programs and events for OBSS.
- Attend mandated staff meetings and training.
- Update and maintain resource manuals.
- Responsible for attending one campus training or workshop / training not offered on campus. Advance notification will be provided.
- Assisting with referrals / scheduling appointments : students and others who call or email requesting an appointment.
- Adhere to CSUSB policies.
- Assisting with key program workshops and events, including but not limited to : BFSSA events; Black Grad, Pioneer Breakfast, Social Gatherings, Receptions, etc.
Advance notification will be provided.
Minimum Qualifications : Required Education and Experience
Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students;
communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
Special Qualification : Admission or registration as a CSU student.
Required Qualifications
- Maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or greater per semester and cumulative.
- Students must be enrolled in at least halftime units at CSUSB (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate)
- International students must have full-time enrollment at CSUSB. (12 units undergraduate; 6 units graduate)
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Payroll Requirement : Social Security Card
Compensation and Benefits :
Student Employment Anticipated Hiring Range : $16.00 per hour.
The compensation offered will consider internal equity and experience among other factors.
Position Information :
Work status : Part-Time, Temporary, Seasonal
Academic year available hours : Monday through Friday (8 : 00 am 5 : 00 pm).
Summer available hours : Monday through Thursday (7 : 00 am - 5 : 30 pm).
This is an 'On-Campus Only' position. Student Employees are not eligible to telecommute at any time.
