Cloud Engineer I - Chicago Hydrid

JOB SUMMARY :

NORC's Information Technology team is seeking a motivated Cloud Engineer I with hands-on experience in both AWS and Azure to join our growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual to grow their cloud engineering career in a multi-cloud environment.

This position is based in our Chicago Loop office with a hybrid arrangement (i.e., part remote, part in-office).

DEPARTMENT : Information Technology - Administrative Systems and Support

RESPONSIBILITIES :

Own tagging responsibilities and policies, clean up resources and cloud configuration duties across multi-cloud environments.

Design, implement, and maintain AWS / Azure cloud infrastructure to support growing business operations.

Work closely with other Cloud Engineers and technical teams to deploy and configure cloud services that meet the needs of internal project teams and business partners.

Collaborate, support, and communicate cross-functional needs to Cloud leaders to ensure scalable cloud solutions in the future.

Implement and manage backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies for multi-account cloud environments.

Develop infrastructure-as-code and build pipeline deployment practices.

Lead cloud cost optimization and performance tuning efforts.

Configure security policies and controls to adhere to client and government compliance requirements.

Stay up to date with AWS and Azure services, features, and best practices to contribute innovative ideas and solutions to the team.

Participate in training workshops to enhance technical skills and knowledge in cloud engineering.

Lead monitoring and service availability across cloud environments.

REQUIRED SKILLS :

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related work experience.

2+ years of cloud engineering experience with direct exposure to both AWS and Azure cloud services.

In-depth understanding of cloud platform services, architecture, and best practices for both AWS and Azure.

Experience with Python scripting, build automation, and CI / CD processes.

Knowledge of networking concepts, security principles, and compliance requirements.

Hands-on experience managing resources in a multi-account environment.

Strong problem-solving and communication skills are essential.

Experience in developing infrastructure-as-code and build pipeline deployment practices.

Proficiency in cloud cost optimization and performance tuning.

Previous NORC experience valued.

SALARY AND BENEFITS :

The pay range for this position is $85,000 to $127,000.

Hybrid work model in the heart of Chicago.
