Under general direction, the Supervising Pharmacist provides supervision for pharmaceutical services within the San Francisco Department of Public Health to assure quality patient care, appropriate drug therapy and compliance with all applicable regulations.
The essential functions include :
- Manages, supervises, and schedules assigned personnel, including completing performance appraisals, and carrying out appropriate disciplinary actions as needed.
- Designs, implements, and evaluates pharmaceutical services.
- Continuously interprets and assists in the development and implementation of departmental rules, regulations, and policies.
- Prepares and maintains reports, memoranda, and records.
- Communicates with physicians, nurses, and other health-care professionals, as well as the general public.
- Assists in managerial decisions including developing the budget.
- Develops and trains staff to support and enhance professional development.
- Procures pharmaceuticals and supplies and maintains inventory.
- May include acting in the capacity of the designated Pharmacist-in Charge of the facility pharmacy.
- Performs professional pharmacist duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications - Required
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING : Requires at least two (2) years (equivalent to 4,000 hours) of experience as a licensed pharmacist in a hospital pharmacy;
or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
LICENSE : Requires possession of a valid Registered Pharmacist license issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy (Please attach a copy)
