Summary

Transfers full trailers from the holding areas to the processing area and then transfers empty trailers from the processing area to designated parking spaces and to include regular rotation to other positions with the department.

To handle all poultry byproducts generated through the slaughter and processing of chickens in a manner to ensure quality byproducts to the rendering plant and the cleanest primary screened wastewater to the wastewater treatment plant.

Hours vary due to production need but are generally 2pm- 12am

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Operates jockey truck transferring trailers to and from the processing area. The task requires maneuvering in and out of the vehicle up to a height of 4 feet every 1 / 2 hour.
• Ensures that trailers are processed in the order designated by management.
• Ensures that YMS (Yard Management System) is updated and policy followed. Keeping the yard organized and in order.
• Performs pre-op inspection of vehicle and post-op cleaning on a daily basis.
• Yard checks are done periodically. Communicates with the gate, the dock office and management.
• Must be able to perform the position responsibilities of the forklift operator.
• Check all pumps, screens fans, blood tanks and lung tanks.
• Keep screws, belts, dumper and screens clean of debris and build up.
• Pump down blood room to tanks in offal and onto trucks.
• Properly load meat and feather trucks.
• Drive trucks in and out of chicken meal area and inspect for good working order.
• Keep chicken meal area clean and safe.
• Work with Maintenance dept. as needed to preform preventative maintenance as needed.
• Candidate will be lock-out / tag out certified.
• Candidate will be able to work in chicken meal process, operating forklift, jockey truck, and Jack lift.
• They will be cross trained to work offal and LiveHang as needed.

Minimum Education

Reading and writing skills required

Experience Requirements

Must obtain a forklift license through company training.

Experience Preferred

CDL experience is a plus

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

Works outdoors year round in seasonal temperatures with noise exposure of 96.2 db; light intensity of less than 5' candles.

When in a plant environment : Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.

May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and % humidity.

May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to db. May be exposed to dust, feathers and all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility.

Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company. Occasional exposure to carbon dioxide vapors 10ppm and chlorine less than 20 ppm.

Able to stand for several hours. Work may include lifting (35 to 65 lbs) to heights from 5" to 84", reaching, bending, pushing boxes on conveyor assembly.

May need to have the ability to operate standup lift for 9 plus hours.
