Position : Coordinator of Residential Services
Reports to : Director, Residential Services
Supervises : Resident Services Specialists
Summary of Position :
The Coordinator of Residential Services is a full-time exempt position and is responsible for the supervision of assigned Resident Services Specialists.
The incumbent provides leadership and direction to the Resident Services Specialists. The incumbent supports the residential environment of the programs by providing guidance to guests, monitoring, and resolving conflict between guests.
The incumbent also assists staff with decision-making and problem-solving in regard to intervention, de-escalation, and medication as necessary.
The incumbent maintains effective relationships with the CoC partner organizations to exchange program information. The incumbent is expected to make recommendations to the Director relative to change and program improvements.
Responsible for promoting the agency’s services and values to the community. The incumbent may be required to represent the organization at community and fundraising events or other official functions as directed.
The incumbent must be available for staff consultations, and emergencies that may arise after hours, or on weekends. The incumbent responds to all calls in a timely and thoughtful manner.
The incumbent works a flexible schedule in order to be present evenings, weekends, and overnights.
Essential Responsibilities :
Some of the essential responsibilities of the Coordinator of Residential Services include, but are not limited to :
- Is familiar and complies with the policies and procedures of New Hope Housing, Inc. including the utilization of Mandt principles and Out of Poverty curriculum;
- Oversees the hiring process for residential services staff for shelter programs;
- Monitors the scheduling of RSS staff.
- Oversees the training protocol for all permanent and seasonal Resident Services Specialists and volunteers at the shelter;
- Maintains policy and procedure manual to ensure compliance, safety, organization, and consistent procedures among resident services specialist staff and residents;
- Develops individual goals for each staff person and support, motivate and monitor their progress, conduct performance evaluations, identify and coordinate training needs and provide oversight of staff’s duties as necessary to ensure a safe and respectful environment exists for all clients, staff, volunteers, and visitors;
- Coordinates Residential Services needs and keep the Director informed of the needs of the Residential Services Specialist Team along with additional shelter program needs;
- Conducts regular supervision with Residential Services Specialists for shelter;
- Facilitates Mandt and Out of Poverty classes;
- Oversees system for tracking and reporting of program data and prepares periodic reports / statistics as requested;
- Adheres to the required ethical standards to include confidentiality, boundaries, resident rights;
- Provides crisis intervention and crisis management services as needed;
- Approves use of PTO and Sick hours. Monitors and approves Residential Services Specialists work hours in the ADP electronic timesheet system;
- Monitors submission of approved timesheet hours for resident services specialist staff to make sure hours are within budget;
- Works flexible hours including evening, weekends, and overnights as needed. Is on-call to provide last-minute shift coverage as necessary including evenings, weekends, and overnights;
- Monitors the on-call phone for the shelter;
- Performs other duties as assigned;
Preferred Qualifications :
- BA preferred, high school diploma or GED required;
- Strong supervisory, management, and team-building experience with two (2) years’ experience working in a human service setting;
- Experience working with homeless adults and adults diagnosed with a mental illness and addiction disorder; counseling and crisis intervention skills;
- Effective time management skills in a fast-paced environment;
- Proficient use of computers to include Microsoft Office;
- The ability to successfully pass a background check and possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record to be approved by our insurance carrier;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Strong verbal Spanish ability preferred;
- Ability to prioritize competing priorities and make sound judgments;
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends when needed
