JOB SUMMARY
- Provides direct nursing care to patients.
- Independently plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care using standards of care.
- Participates in unit committee and quality improvement activities.
- Assumes teaching and leadership responsibilities.
- Locates and documents medical and nursing patient care information.
- Identifies standards of care common to patient population.
- Demonstrates knowledge of medication dosages and administers medication safely and accurately.
- Evaluates outcomes of care and reports to oncoming shift the care that should be provided.
- Accepts responsibility for own learning needs and attends courses and in-services offered.
- Serves as a preceptor for new employees, coworkers, and students.
- Maintains communication with patient family / significant other.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Florida.
- One year of recent OR experience required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
- Intermediate computer knowledge : Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
