Sweetwaters the nations #1 online retailer of pro audio and musical instruments is seeking to add a VP of Transportation to our growing team.

Our VP of Transportation will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations for all inbound and outbound transportation for our fulfillment center in Fort Wayne, Indiana and potential second location, TBD.

In addition, this role will be responsible for all freight and parcel transportation and carrier contract negotiation, implementation, and continuous improvement.

This role will manage our transportation and shipping teams and as well as our external partners including ground, ocean, and air providers.

The role reports directly to the SVP of Distribution Center Operations.

Responsibilities :

• Coordinate effective use of carriers to meet both inbound and outbound capacity, service, and least cost objective
• Lead all pricing negotiations and contract management efforts
• Provide analysis and strategic direction in relation to all shipping data including net pricing and all accessorial charges, driving efficiency and cost reduction
• Create transportation capacity strategies and develop contingency plans to cost-effectively support varying levels of company sales and changes to supply / demand patterns
• Establish and utilize Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that drive competitive costs and service
• Analyze and assess industry and market dynamics on a regular basis to assess transportation cost and service trends
• Build relationships and trust with cross functional partners
• Ensure adherence to all governmental policies
• Advise senior leadership on all aspects of transportation and logistics

Qualifications :

• Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Logistics, Engineering or equivalent - Masters degree is preferred.
• Proven experience with managing large logistics organizations with similar complexity
• Extensive experience with Transportation Management Systems
• Deep knowledge of contracts, services, and pricing for global, national, and regional carriers
• Demonstrates strong negotiations and analytical skills to ensure the lowest overall transportation cost consistent with high service requirements
• Track record of successful project deployments with quantifiable results
• Strong communication skills and ability to convey complex ideas in a clear, concise manner both verbally and in writing
• Demonstrated ability to utilize data and metrics to drive decision making and optimization
• Focused, organized, and results-driven individual with the ability to drive a diverse set of cross-functional partners towards a defined goal
• Previous experience supporting the negotiation of freight claims to a conclusion, ensuring collection of lost revenue from carrier for the failure to protect goods, as well as ensuring that exception freight bills are resolved, and carriers are compliant
