Minimum Education : Bachelor's degree in Biology, Life Sciences, or a related discipline
Position Summary and Objectives
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Laboratory Technician with experience in managing mice colonies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in neuroscience, neuroimmunology, or a related field.
This role involves planning, executing, and arranging laboratory experiments, and performing a variety of laboratory techniques and procedures related to scientific research.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and Screen Transgenic Mouse Colony
- Maintain and screen transgenic mouse colonies with a focus on neuroimmunological studies.
- Work with staff on maintaining laboratory cell lines and logs, databases, and inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Laboratory Techniques
- Perform immune cell isolations, immunohistochemistry, tissue sectioning, fluorescence, and brightfield microscopy.
- Conduct digital flow cytometry, ELISAs, DNA / RNA isolations, PCR, RT-PCR, quantitative PCR, and Western blots.
- Operate laboratory machines and instruments; prepare specimens and equipment for experiments.
- Sample Management and Storage
- Process, store, and organize multiple samples simultaneously.
- Implement storage and distribution of biological samples for future research.
- Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and ensure all necessary supplies are available for laboratory efficiency.
- Equipment Maintenance
- Perform routine and advanced maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Assist in troubleshooting and calibrating various laboratory instruments.
- Data Management
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data; prepare detailed reports based on experimental results.
- Document and report all procedures performed for use by senior staff.
- Training and Safety Compliance
- Provide technical assistance and training to lab members in routine laboratory tests and procedures.
- Ensure laboratory safety courses and certifications for staff are up to date.
