Position Title : Registered Dietitian
Department : Nutrition Services
Reports To : Director of Nutrition Services / Clinical Nutrition Manager
Job Summary :
The Registered Dietitian is responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing nutritional care for patients. This position involves providing evidence-based dietary advice, developing customized meal plans, and promoting healthy eating habits to improve overall health and manage medical conditions.
The Registered Dietitian collaborates with healthcare teams to support patient wellness and recovery.
Key Responsibilities :
- Nutritional Assessment :
- Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments for patients based on their medical history, lab results, and dietary intake.
- Identify nutritional needs and potential dietary restrictions for individual patients.
- Care Planning and Implementation :
- Develop and implement personalized nutrition care plans to address specific health conditions and nutritional goals.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of nutrition interventions, making adjustments as necessary.
- Provide medical nutrition therapy for various health conditions, including diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and gastrointestinal disorders.
- Patient Education and Counseling :
- Educate patients and their families on nutritional principles, healthy eating habits, and diet modifications for disease management.
- Offer practical advice and strategies for making healthier food choices.
- Conduct group education sessions and workshops on nutrition-related topics.
- Collaboration and Communication :
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to integrate nutritional care into overall patient treatment plans.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and modify care plans as needed.
- Communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, and the healthcare team to ensure understanding and compliance with dietary recommendations.
- Documentation and Reporting :
- Maintain accurate and thorough patient records, including assessments, care plans, and progress notes.
- Ensure documentation meets regulatory and institutional standards.
- Quality Improvement and Research :
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of nutritional care services.
- Stay current with research and advancements in the field of nutrition and dietetics.
- Contribute to the development of nutrition-related policies, procedures, and educational materials. Qualifications :
- Education :
- Education :
- Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Completion of a supervised dietetic internship program.
- Master’s degree in Nutrition or a related field preferred.
- Licensure / Certification :
- Current Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
- State licensure or certification as required.
- Experience :
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in clinical nutrition or a healthcare setting preferred.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
