Hiring for a Part-Time DHH Teacher (2024-2025)
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Part-Time Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher to join our team near Broken Arrow, OK.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in special education and a passion for supporting students with hearing impairments.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with hearing impairments.
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with hearing impairments, both in individual and group settings.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure the success of students.
- Use various communication methods, including American Sign Language (ASL), to effectively teach and interact with students.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instructional methods as needed.
- Advocate for the needs of students with hearing impairments within the school community.
- Participate in professional development and stay current with best practices in deaf education.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field. Masters degree preferred.
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf Education (or the ability to obtain certification prior to the start date).
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
- Experience working with students with hearing impairments.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Preferred Experience :
- Previous experience teaching students with hearing impairments in a school setting.
- Familiarity with assistive technologies and accommodations for students with hearing impairments.
- Experience developing and implementing IEPs.
