In 1946, Denver Public Schools (DPS) and the Rotary Club of Denver partnered to form Denver Boys with the purpose of providing academic support, mentorship, and job skills for boys who were dropping out of school to work and provide for their families when their fathers did not return from WWII.

Denver Girls was founded in 1970 to follow the same academic and mentor support model. In 1993, Denver Kids became the merged entities of Denver Boys and Denver Girls to consolidate programs and funding.

In 2019, DK merged with Denver Urban Scholars (DUS), a fellow youth-serving organization committed to serving students facing barriers to high school graduation and educational attainment through mentorship and academic support.

Our unique public / private partnership with DPS continues today. Specializing in Educational SEL Counseling a one-to-one, relationship-based, long-term approach dedicated to building character, academic achievement, and positive development of the whole child.

Denver Kids strives to help students use education and the development of social and emotional skills as tools to create career and college pathways.

Position Summary :

The Program Director is a critical component of the program and senior leadership team, utilizing their experience with adult social-emotional learning facilitation to train, coach, and advocate.

The Program Director will report to and coordinate with the Vice President of Programs to ensure that all program teams across the organization consistently follow policies and procedures and drive student outcomes.

This position will build relationships with target schools and community partners, collaborating with Program Managers to ensure successful student enrollment, and through observations provide direct coaching for program and team excellence.

This position will also assist in evaluation and data tracking for grant / funding purposes and continuous program improvement while maintaining appropriate and effective written and verbal communication.

Primary Responsibilities

Supervision and Management

  • Facilitate regular team meetings alongside one-on-one supervision of Program Managers
  • Responsible for leading and supervising the program management staff, including selecting, training, evaluating, and managing their performance
  • Set objective performance measurements across all program areas to ensure consistent, high-quality evaluation and goal-setting
  • Ensure the fidelity of program delivery, data collection, and documentation through ongoing support of supervisees
  • Collaborate with Senior Leadership to implement a professional development program to provide continued learning and skill gaps
  • Recruit, hire, and oversee training and orientation for program staff

Program Administration

  • Build and cultivate existing relationships with personnel in key partner schools, community partners, and stakeholders
  • Develop and implement strategies to maximize synergies among different program areas, including overseeing the enrollment process

General

  • Partner with senior leadership to hire and onboard staff and interns
  • Adhere to Denver Kids’ Policies and Procedures, inclusive of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) practices, as well as ethical standards of the field
  • Work collaboratively in a team-based setting
  • Participate in leadership / professional development including on-going training
  • Flexibility to take on or support other responsibilities across the organization

Qualifications

Required :

  • Extensive experience designing and implementing a management program resulting in increased leadership abilities
  • Bachelor's degree in related field (Social Work, Counseling, Human Services, Education, Psychology, Non-profit Management) or 8 years of experience working in youth development
  • Experience working within a school system or community setting
  • 5 years of experience supervising staff in a non-profit setting
  • Provide up-to-date, comprehensive auto insurance with a valid driver’s license

Preferred :

  • Master’s degree in related field (Social Work, Human Services, Counseling, Psychology, Education, Non-profit Management)
  • Bilingual

Working Conditions

  • Urban city and school district
  • Working with Denver Public School (DPS) students and families who may or may not face circumstances, including but not limited to, poverty, homelessness, domestic violence, and immigration
  • Driving to and from schools, events and / or other local entities as necessary
  • Regular working hours Monday - Friday 9 : 00 am - 5 : 00 pm, occasional hours before and after
  • Occasionally transport students for Denver Kids events

Job Type : Full-time

Pay : $77,500.00 - $82,500.00 per year
