Mass Eye and Ear is a world-renowned institution providing expert care to patients with problems of the head and neck. We have busy and growing practices in our Newton and Wellesley offices and are looking for talented individuals to join us.
Staff in the MA / AA position provide a wide range of both clinical and administrative support to physicians and patients, with an opportunity to work in both medical assistant (MA) and administrative assistant (AA) roles.
Staff in this position meet patients and serves as the "face" of the practice.
During patient visits, in the administrative assistant role, the MA / AA coordinates patient flow, processing medical and insurance information, answering patient questions and working closely with our doctors and medical assistants to ensure that the patient visit goes smoothly.
Tasks include registering patients and arranging appointments via the Epic computer system.
In the Medical assistant role, staff room patients, take preliminary medical histories, manage medical instruments, assist the physician with patients when needed, and prepare the room for the next patient.
After the visit, the MA / AA works closely with our physicians and our Site manager to communicate patient messages and concerns, and to relay physician information back to patients.
MA / AA staff often get to know our patients through frequent interactions in our office and by phone. MA / AA's work collaboratively with our entire staff of office and health care professionals in our team approach to health care.
We offer opportunity to grow in this position, taking on more patient care responsibility as staff develop knowledge and skills.
Qualifications
Necessary skills include a high school diploma, professional and calm demeanor, mastery of high school level language and writing skills (college level preferred), facility with Microsoft Word, Excel and general Microsoft computer skills (skills with Epic electronic health records a big plus), discretion and respect for patients' private health issues.
Strong organizational skills and ability to work collaboratively a must.Prior experience or training in a medical administrative support position or medical assistant is a plus.
