Dietitian Per Diem Days Position Summary
Provides clinical nutrition support services to patients through Food Service. Monitors nutritional care, manages physician ordered therapeutic diets and provides nutritional education to patients.
Directs, supervises and coordinates diet office activities. Processes information generated from patient, medical records, nursing and ancillary staff for utilization in the accurate identification, assessment and evaluation of the patient’s nutritional needs.
SPECIAL SKILLS : Must be able to effectively communicate. Excellent customer service skills.
THE DIETITIAN PER DIEM DAYS CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE / CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE.
MINIMUM EDUCATION : . degree from an accredited college or university with a major in food, nutrition, or institutional management and any additional education as required by the American Dietetic Association.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSURE : Registered or Registration eligible with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics.
Must obtain registration within 6 months.
REQUIRED COURSE(S) TRAINING : An unexpired Maricopa County Food Handler Care; or a valid card or certificate issued by an ANSI-accredited food handler training program;
or a valid food handler card or certificate issued by another county within Arizona.
Experience : At least 1 year of acute care experience

Assesses nutritional status of the patient based on information gathered from the medical record, patient, family, and other health care team members.
Identifies and provides for the teaching needs of patients and families utilizing appropriate educational material and arranging for the most suitable environment possible.
Performs nutrient intake analysis. Performs nutrition screening and assesses patients identified as having high nutrition risks.
Participates in developing policies and procedures related to providing nutrition care and patient tray services. Assigns appropriate nutrition care tasks to the dietetic technicians.
Acts as a preceptor for dietetic interns and dietetic technician students when required. Relieves employees in the diet office as assigned.

Required : Bachelor’s degree
Experience :
Preferred : 1 year as a dietitian in a clinical setting
Certifications :
Required : Registered or Registration eligible with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Must obtain registration within 6 months. Must possess current state licensure as Dietitian or obtain it within 90 days of hire.
