Job Title : Transportation Specialist

Job Summary :

Responsible for coordinating transportation activities for inbound and outbound shipments, both domestic and international. This includes handling export documentation, ensuring compliance with regulations, and supporting internal teams with logistics-related needs.

Principal Responsibilities :

Prepare export documents such as commercial invoices, shipper's letters of instruction, carrier waybills, and shipper's export declarations for all international shipments.

Deliver import documentation to brokers, monitor post-clearance activities, and resolve import-related issues.

Report mandatory export data to government agencies in compliance with applicable laws.

Provide pre- and post-shipment support to sales teams, including resolving shipment issues and customs clearance questions.

Create required documentation to support both domestic and international shipments.

Screen transactions for licensing requirements in accordance with export regulations.

Maintain department records and ensure proper file updates according to retention policies.

Identify and participate in process improvement opportunities, including tracking key performance metrics.

Work with carriers to ensure competitive pricing and service levels are met and maintained.

Provide customer service through tracking, tracing, routing, supply chain model creation, and carrier management.

May negotiate shipping rates and perform audits to ensure billing accuracy.

Identify operational inefficiencies and implement effective solutions.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Able to complete complex assignments requiring initiative, problem-solving, and independent judgment.

Works with minimal supervision; expected to use creativity to deliver results and manage new challenges.

Collaborates with both internal teams and external partners. May represent the department in special project teams.

Qualifications :

Experience : Minimum of 5 years of relevant transportation / logistics experience.

Education : High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Preferred Skills & Characteristics :

Strong knowledge of transportation operations and global geography to understand logistics and propose effective solutions.

Excellent documentation and compliance skills.

Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.
