Position Summary :
The APRN Inpatient provide a wide range of primary, acute and specialty healthcare services, both autonomously and in partnership with other healthcare professionals, in accordance with State and Federal regulations.
- These services include managing patient's overall care; prescribing medications and treatments; ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests, such as x-rays, EKGs and lab work;
- diagnosing and treating chronic and acute conditions, including injuries, infections, diabetes and high blood pressure; performing invasive procedures;
counseling; and educating patients on positive health-promoting lifestyle choices and disease, injury and illness prevention.
Incumbent in the job classification may perform unit specific duties based on the specialty.
Duties & Responsibilities :
- Uses clinical judgment in health assessments, differential diagnoses, and treatment prescriptions, both pharmacological and non-pharmacological.
- Executes plans independently through health counseling and collaborative efforts within the health team.
- Holds responsibility for clinical oversight and health center consultation concerning healthcare policy administration and on-site services.
- Promotes optimal health, prevents illnesses and injuries, and manages acute and chronic health conditions within the on-site setting.
- Conducts physical examinations and preventive health measures following physician-prescribed guidelines.
- Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests for identifying and assessing patients' clinical problems and healthcare needs.
- Records physical findings, formulates plans and prognosis based on patient conditions, and provides written home-going instructions.
- Makes referrals for follow-up to appropriate community resources and ensures interdisciplinary management for inpatients and outpatients.
- Collaborates with physicians and other health professionals to develop comprehensive patient care plans as needed.
- Prescribes or recommends medications or treatments, maintains accurate medical records, educates nursing staff, and integrates professional knowledge and technological advances into practice.
Required Qualifications :
Experience :
Generally requires 5 to 7 years of related experience.
Education :
Master's degree in Nursing is required.
License Certification :
- Valid Florida Advanced Practice RN license (Acute Care) required.
- Valid APRN Board certification in specialty area required.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)and anyadditional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment.
Must meet and maintain valid and current all unit specific and organizational skills / competencies, certifications / licensures, as required by regulatory and / or nursing standard of practice for the specialty.
