Minimum 1+ years deaf & hard of hearing experience required.
Soliant currently has an opening for a contracted position for a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing near the Elk Grove Village, ILarea.
Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Provide direct instruction in language development, literacy, and academic subjects using appropriate munication methods, such as American Sign Language (ASL), Total munication, or oral / aural methods.
- Adapt curriculum materials and teaching strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- This is a full time role, Monday-Friday (35 hours per week).
- Itinerant role
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field.
- Valid state certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other munication methods used by individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, including knowledge of deaf culture and identity.
- Familiarity with assistive technology and hearing assistive devices.
- Strong munication and collaboration skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a mitment to advocating for the needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Experience as an itinerant teacher
