Job Description :
- Primary assignment involves the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Stepdown.
- RNs may be required to float between specified hospitals within the designated region.
- The unit has 32 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 : 3-4, occasionally varying.
- Support staff includes a charge nurse and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) with a ratio of 1 : 8-12.
- Work schedule requires flexibility to include weekends and holidays as needed.
- Nurses are expected to read strips; remote telemetry monitor technicians are available.
- Handle drips such as nitroglycerin, heparin, cardizem, nicardipine, amiodarone, insulin, dopamine, esmolol, labetalol, milrinone, argatroban, aggrostat.
- Supported by a hospitalist and intensivist presence 24 / 7.
- 24 / 7 in-house services include Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy.
- An IV Team is available from 11 am to 11 pm.
- Orientation includes 12 hours of policy / procedure and 12 hours on unit training with a preceptor.
- Utilize the Epic charting system for documentation.
- The unit handles diverse cases including CVA / TIA, STEMI / NSTEMI, ACS, CHF, renal failure, respiratory distress, DKA / HHNK, PE / DVT, and various cardiac procedures and conditions.
- Additional exposure to CAPD (Peritoneal Dialysis) is a plus, though not required.
- The environment is dynamic and part of a cohesive team that welcomes travel nurses as essential members.
- RNs will have to follow the shift and floating requirements specific to the region.
- There is a structured cancellation policy of three shifts per 13-week contract.
