Emergency Department Technician Full time nights 7p-7a

Employment Type : Full timeShift : 12 Hour Night ShiftDescription : The Emergency Department Technician performs a variety of direct patient care procedures assisting the professional staff, physicians, and / or department leadership to provide mission-driven patient centered care focused on meeting the needs of our patients.

GENERAL PATIENT CARE - Meets the comfort and hygiene needs of the . patient by providing care services such as bathing, oral hygiene procedures, hair care, bed pan / urinal use, skin care and garment, linen and bedding changes, Distributes meals and beverages, takes vital signs, collects lab specimens.

TECHNICAL CARE - Assists with completion of patient testing and treatment procedures, sets up and primes IV tubing, 12-lead ECG, simple tracheostomy suctioning and care, changes dressings, obtains blood specimens utilizing appropriate skin puncture and venipuncture techniques, performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation, obtains wound · and throat cultures.

EQUIPMENT - Assists physician and professional staff in equipment supply and set up.TRANSPORT - Assists with ambulating patients with assistive devices such as crutches and with transfer / transport procedures.

COMMUNICATION - Performs required documentation and communicates in a competent and effective manner to meet patient and / or family needs and regulatory requirements.

Maintains strict confidentiality of patient, employee and department information to ensure patient rights.QUALITY IMPROVEMENT - Utilizes time and resources effectively to promote quality and cost outcomes.

Other department specific duties as assigned.Position Requirements : Minimum Education : Required : High School Diploma plus training acquired through work experience or educationMinimum Experience : Preferred : 1-2 years of previous job-related experience -Licensure / Certifications : Required : CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) - BLS AHAPreferred : Licensed EMT Paramedic State of IllinoisLicensed EMT-Basic and / or Paramedic State of IllinoisOther : Completion of an Illinois Department of Health program (CNA, EMT-B, EMT-P)with verification, or the ability to prove an equal or higher level of education in a nursing focused program.
