Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)
- Assist with ensuring the accuracy of the general ledger for all balance sheet, revenue, and expense accounts. Conduct analysis to identify, investigate, resolve, and report trends, budget variances, and contractual variances.
- Complete accounting duties accurately and timely. Prepare and record asset, receivable, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions, and resolving discrepancies.
Maintain assigned general ledger accounts by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling in accordance with assigned frequency.
- Ensure accurate and timely manner of depositing and remitting funds and tax filing and reporting.
- Review and approve general ledger journal entries and account reconciliations prepared by staff.
- Assist with preparing and distributing monthly financial statement reporting packages to company management
- Maintain a thorough working knowledge of all Casino and Hotel operational areas and how those areas relate to and affect other areas and how financial activity in these areas should be reflected in the general ledger.
- Assist in maintaining and improving upon accounting processes, procedures, and systems, ensuring that all financial systems and files stay in sync with the general ledger.
- Assist with the development and implementation of new systems, researching and resolving technical accounting issues, and internal controls that meet the Company’s business growth and culture.
- Assist in coordinating and preparing for internal and external audits.
- Ensure full compliance with departmental Internal Controls, policies, procedures and regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 3 years of general accounting work experience are required. If no Bachelor’s degree, an Associate’s degree and 5 years general accounting work experience are required.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and account balancing and reconciling is required.
- Experience working with financial and accounting software systems required. Experience working in Acumatica accounting system and Red Rock materials management system is preferred.
- Office skills must include the ability to use standard office equipment and Microsoft Office software. The ability to demonstrate advanced Microsoft Excel skills is required.
- The ability to use strong organization skills and attention to detail to accurately handle multiple job duties and projects in a fast-paced environment.
- The ability to read and interpret financial documents.
- The ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- The ability to maintain discretion in handling confidential information.
- The ability to interact with guests and team members at all levels of the organization professionally, including the ability to speak in front of small groups.
- The ability to work irregular hours and extended shifts including late nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
- While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to talk, hear, stand, sit, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and move freely throughout the office and property for duration of scheduled shift for prolonged periods of time in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment.
The team member is frequently required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
The team member must be able to operate a personal computer. The team member may be required to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and up to 25 pounds occasionally, with or without assistance.
Team member must wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing job duties. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
Working Conditions
The noise level is usually moderate. When on the casino floor, the noise level increases. The facility is not smoke free.
