Marcum LLP is seeking a Tax Manager to join our growing and well established Tax & Business Services Department in Houston, TX.

Responsibilities :

• Review partnership and corporate tax returns
• Manage compliance engagements, from budgeting to scheduling to managing staff
• Experience in working with ASC 740 / FIN 48
• Perform research, develop strategies, and draft memoranda on complex tax issues
• Train and supervise staff, review and evaluate their work
• Make suggestions to help improve efficiencies, within department and on engagements
• Be involved with the financial management and billing of clients
• Contribute to the development of your own and the teams technical acumen
• Manage people and functions through the following skills, but not limited to; coaching, decision making, problem solving, strategy & planning, delegation, leadership and team building
• Manage multiple clients, budgets and production goals

Qualifications :

• 7+ years of relevant experience
• BS / MS in Taxation or equivalent experience
• Must be a CPA or JD
• Ability to work in office a minimum of 3 days a week
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills
• Able to problem-solve and think both creatively and logically
• Decisively executes solutions to problems
• Good communication skills (both verbal and writing skills) and the ability to communicate effectively with clients, managers and partners
• Has advanced knowledge of applicable accounting software (e.g., CCH Axcess Engagement, GFR, etc.)
• Addresses questions on technical accounting matters from team members and upper-level client management.
• Ability to meet deadlines with accuracy
