GDIT is seeking a Sr. Program Manager to support key strategic health and scientific initiatives at the NIH National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI).
NHLBI’s mission is to provide global leadership for research, training, and education programs to promote the prevention and treatment of heart, lung, and blood diseases and to enhance the health of all individuals, so that they can live longer and more fulfilling lives.
- You will work with federal senior leadership and the GDIT team to directly support the mission of the NHLBI Project Management Office (PMO) to enhance the Institute’s project management skills by supporting high-priority, trans-NHLBI programs;
- developing project management tools and templates; developing training and guidance materials; designing structures and processes that create the conditions for effective interpersonal and team dynamics;
and providing advice and consultation on the development of strategic scientific planning processes to project leads, as needed.

HOW A SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM MANAGER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT :
- Coordinate the daily activities and deliverables of the NIH Community Engagement Alliance (CEAL) program and manage relationships with scientific program leads and key program stakeholders
- Collaborate on the development of project charters, project plans, and schedules and provide overall PM support to federal senior leadership
- Work with stakeholders to ensure the Community Engagement Alliance (CEAL) program requirements are defined to ensure program success
- Support senior-level working groups and meetings, including agenda setting, meeting minute capture, action item tracking, coordination, logistics, and materials preparation
- Monitor program schedules and budgets, as well as other activities related to the program
- Develop monthly status reports with metrics and analysis to support forward-looking decision-making based on data; coordinate with other entities to ensure status reporting requirements are met
- Monitor and evaluate program activities to determine effectiveness and make recommendations for changes and / or improvements when necessary
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED :
Education : BS / BA (or equivalent)
Required Experience : Minimum of 15 years related experience
Required Technical Skills :
- Active Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Minimum of five years in a team leadership role
- Must have experience in executing projects to ensure they meet all scope, schedule, resources, and quality expectations through the entire project lifecycle
- Experience developing project management processes, tools, and templates to strengthen organization’s project management approach
- Must have expertise in managing project budgets
Security Clearance : Ability to obtain a NIH Public Trust
Required Skills and Abilities :
- Good understanding of the application of project management principles and techniques and project management work experience in a biomedical, pharmaceutical, biotech, academic medical center, or health-related organization (Note : This is not an IT Program Management role)
- Expertise in developing and managing internal and external relationships at all levels within an organization and the diplomacy to work effectively with diverse individuals across functional disciplines.
- Ability to establish healthy communication amongst a team and resolve team conflicts
- Desire to collaborate in a team environment and provide excellent customer service to clients
- Ability to work in a matrixed environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Preferred Skills :
- Prefer degree in science-related and / or public health-related field
- Experience supporting complex projects related to project management support at the NIH or similar federal healthcare organization, including experience in interacting with federal leadership and staff
- Experience evaluating team members’ bandwidth and expertise and delegating work according to their skill set
Location : Position is primarily remote. However you need to be able to commute to the client site in Bethesda, MD for meetings or other client obligations as needed.
GDIT would not be able to pay travel expenses if you live outside the local area.
