The Job :

The Senior Cloud Network Security Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure network infrastructure in cloud environments.

They assess network vulnerabilities, develop security policies and protocols, and deploy advanced security measures to protect cloud-based systems and data.

They collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices, and provide guidance and support to junior engineers.

Additionally, they monitor network traffic, analyze security logs, and respond to security incidents to mitigate risks and maintain the integrity of cloud network environments.

What You Will Do :

  • Serve as the primary point of contact and SME for public cloud security within the company, providing expertise and guidance to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Lead the design, implementation, and management of security controls and mechanisms to safeguard cloud infrastructure hosted on public cloud platforms (e.

g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

  • Conduct comprehensive network and security assessments of cloud environments to identify vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, and compliance gaps.
  • Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and standards specific to public cloud environments, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with Cloud Engineers and Site Reliability Engineers to implement and manage advanced security technologies and tools on public cloud platforms, such as identity and access management (IAM), encryption, key management, and network security controls.
  • Work with the Buildertrend Architecture team to influence Cloud security and network changes
  • Provide guidance and support to DevOps and infrastructure teams on securely deploying and managing workloads, applications, and services in public cloud environments using various deployment and provisioning tools.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends, threats, and security technologies in public cloud environments, and proactively recommend and implement measures to mitigate risks.
  • Serve as a mentor and thought leader within the organization, sharing knowledge and best practices related to public cloud security.
  • Ownership of platform network security monitoring, ensuring continuous surveillance and analysis of network traffic to detect and respond to potential security threats in real time

Who You Are and What You Need

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field required
  • 10+ years experience as a Security Engineer or Cloud Engineer, with a focus on public cloud security and network security required
  • Deep understanding of public cloud platforms, services, and security controls, with hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and managing security solutions.
  • Proficiency in cloud networking principles, including virtual networking, subnetting, routing, and security groups.
  • Proven expertise in conducting security assessments and audits of cloud environments, identifying vulnerabilities, and implementing remediation measures.
  • Strong knowledge of security compliance frameworks and regulations relevant to public cloud environments (e.g., NIST, CCM, SOC 2).
  • Experience in scripting and automation for security tasks and workflows in public cloud environments (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell, Terraform).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with the capacity to lead projects, mentor team members, and drive initiatives to completion.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex security challenges and develop innovative solutions.
