PRIMARY PURPOSE :
The Lancaster Flooring Plant team has a great career opportunity for a Production Supervisor to be located at the Lancaster Plant located in Lancaster, Pa.
The Production Supervisor will be responsible for providing leadership to production associates concerning safety, quality, production performance, and team development.
The administrative tasks will include creating manpower schedules, communicating production schedule plans / results, and manage time and attendance, while adhering to the union contract.
In addition, the Production Supervisor is responsible for the value-adding process, leading and supporting process improvements, and assisting maintenance with maintenance planning and execution.
This position reports to the Operations Manager.
Shift : 12-hour night shift; 7p-7a Monday-Wednesday / Thursday

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

- Effectively leads the Safety 1st approach by setting the example and ensuring consistent execution of the safety policies and procedures.
- Be a role model for safety. - Promote a zero-injury safety culture and find ways to continuously improve safety culture in the workplace.
- Stop any observed work activities or conditions that are dangerous, illegal, or against company policy.
- Identify safety issues in the workplace and assume responsibility to take immediate action to correct or immediately escalate to appropriate level for resolution.
- Understands the importance of quality and the systems in place to prevent poor quality from reaching the customer.
- Drives to achieve our production goals-yield, throughput, labor, and raw material usage.
- Lead / assist line troubleshooting and diagnosing malfunctions.
- Responsible for identifying, implementing and participating in process improvements to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the production line.
- Escalating to the appropriate teams when Safety, Quality, or Production goals are at risk or more support is needed.
- Responsible for managing employee training and development.
- Responsible for identifying and planning for manpower requirements and managing overtime as necessary with labor goals in mind.
- Collaborates and coordinates with the engineering team and NPD to execute projects as necessary.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES :
- Able to be perceptive and have a strong awareness of surroundings to identify potential risks and communicate these risks to employees
- Have working technical knowledge of the following manufacturing technologies : Lean ManufacturingSix SigmaOrganizational skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Thorough knowledge of plant business system processes such as : work order process, material flow, scheduling, production processes, down day planning, work rules, policies
- Ability to use computer programs and processes (Excel, Word, M3, Access, etc.)
- Working knowledge of Process Improvement methodologies, such as Lean Manufacturing, DMAIC, Business Process Management, etc.
- Able to demonstrate practical problem-solving skills
- Excellent analytical, communications, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and motivate a diverse group of employees
QUALIFICATIONS :
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Must be able to successfully complete and pass a background check, employment verification and drug screening
- Positive and Verifiable Work History
- Must follow safety guidelines and wear applicable safety equipment, e.g., safety glasses, side shields, approved safety shoes, and other PPE as needed
