SRI’s Federal Partnerships Team provides researchers with full-service business development support, including customer relationship management, market and competitor intel, qualified opportunities and capture support.
We seek a uniquely experienced, motivated, resourceful, and collaborative professional to serve as a Business Development Executive , U.
S. Air Force (USAF) in our Arlington, VA office. This position reports to the Executive Director for the Department of Defense (DoD).
We are looking for a Business Development Executive Air Force Federal Accounts, who will work a hybrid work schedule in our Arlington, VA office.
A proven business development track record, strong technical skills across a variety of scientific disciplines, with an in-depth understanding of Air Force missions, requirements, and policy is critical.
You will need an existing network of Air Force clients, systems integrators, with a deep understanding of end user requirements, and a proven track record of delivering early to mid-TRL programs.

- Develop and execute portfolio planning, strategy, and long-range planning to drive new business for portfolio growth
- Develop and manage federal customers, DoD prime contractors, and internal SRI researcher relationships
- Identify, generate, and qualify opportunities to build a strong Air Force pipeline across SRI’s multidisciplinary programs
- Drive pursuit and capture plan decisions, development, and execution
- Will position solutions, shape opportunities, enrich partnership development, utilize storyboarding, develop win themes, compile competitor analysis, and engage in color team reviews
- Responsible for Salesforce CRM entry, status reports, and attaining performance metrics.
You will work side-by-side in a one SRI team model, with our scientists, engineers, business development professionals and other business and administrative team members, to translate customer needs (current and anticipated) into discriminating technical and business solutions using SRI capabilities.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of related business development experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant science or business field.
- U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance required.
- Current security clearance preferred.
- Current knowledge of the relationships in the DoD command structures (i.e., ACC, AFMC, AFSOC, AETC, USSF), understanding of current capability gaps and relevant market segments.
- Recent experience with Defense RDT&E Laboratories (i.e., AFRL, AFWERX), and the DoD Science and Technology community.
- Proficiency with Salesforce CRM, GovWin, federal opportunity tools and databases, including MS Office.
- Proven success originating, developing, evaluating, capturing, and submitting competitive research proposals in the federal research and development market.
- Effective communication skills and a demonstrated ability to partner with researchers to prepare and present compelling customer briefings, white papers, and other material.
- Experience analyzing and understanding market drivers, technologies, and customer’s mission requirements for current and future DoD service requirements.
- Experience with standard Business Acquisition processes for bookings capture.
- Pro-active possess the ability to get out in front of Service capability gaps and requirements.
- Ability to manage and prioritize a wide variety of complex tasks and projects.
- Team focused with a demonstrated ability to work independently.
The salary range is : $156,708-$233,100. Salary ranges will vary and are based on several factors, including geographic location, market competitiveness and equity amongst internal employees in similar roles.
