We are seeking a Data Center Manager to join our team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This role is performed on-site and is not remote.

The Data Center Manager position at US Signal is responsible for managing the overall operations and maintenance of multiple mission-critical data centers, facilities, and its supporting infrastructure.

This role will provide leadership and support through communication, planning and strong management. The Data Center Manager will help ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of all data center operations.

This position reports to the Director of Facilities.

Functions / Responsibilities :

Manage, facilitate, and perform projects for deployment of data center and network infrastructure.

Monitor and document data center HVAC, fire suppression, and electrical capacity.

Help develop quotes for data center and network infrastructure and customer projects.

Lead new customer project pricing, planning, install, and documentation.

Manage and oversee several internal and customer projects at one time.

Assist in the preventative maintenance programs.

Coordinate maintenance, and the activities of sub-contractors.

Maintain efficient record keeping for data centers, facilities, network, and contracts.

Suggest, document, and implement departmental policies to gain efficiencies.

Work with other departments to help facilitate and streamline inter-departmental procedures.

Manage new customer projects and change orders for current customers. Working closely with project management team at multiple sites.

Manage facility and network growth projects.

Update and maintain all facilities and networks drawings.

Coordinate with internal teams to facilitate facility planning, budgeting, and scheduling.

Work with other departments to help facilitate and streamline inter-departmental procedures.

Collaborate with project managers to execute expansion or upgrade projects.

Back up for other facilities department personnel.

Train, mentor, and support regional optical field technicians.

Provide regional support for inside plant engineering.

Oversee routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of existing fiber optic lines.

Other duties as provided by US Signal management.

Required Experience :

Competencies :

Knowledge of facilities planning and construction management processes and procedures.

Knowledge of estimating, budgeting, and scheduling practices.

Knowledge of standard of practices at all of our locations.

Experience working with electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and security equipment.

High level of analytical ability and effective communicator (written and verbal).

Attention to detail, highly accurate, and possess excellent organizational skills.

Self-driven and possess the ability to manage projects and multi-task to meet strict deadlines.

Ability to work well within all areas of the US Signal organization as well as with external customers and vendors.

Education :

Associates degree in Facilities Management, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related technical degree is preferred.

Experience :

Experience working in data centers and / or experience with data center infrastructure to include electrical, HVAC, fire suppression, and security systems.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands :

This position operates in a variety of environments. The majority of the time is spent in a professional office environment and this role routinely uses standard office equipment.

This position requires unaided lifting of up to 100#, climbing ladders or scaffolding, repeated bending, crouching, stooping, stretching and / or crawling.

Personal Protective Equipment includes safety glasses, protective gloves, and hard hat, all as necessary.

Required License(s) / Certification(s) :

Valid, active drivers license with a good driving record as defined by the Companys current insurance provider.
