We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Tax and Accounting Services to lead our Tax and Accounting Services Department.

In this role you will support, plan and monitor the execution of Tax Preparation, Bookkeeping, Payroll and other Business Consultative services provided to our clients.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Tax and Accounting principles, and Financial Management, along with demonstrated leadership abilities and a commitment to delivering exceptional client service.

Location :

Hybrid to Tampa or NYC offices

Remote to AL, AK, AZ, CT, FL, GA, HI, IN, IA, MD, MN, MO, NJ, NC, OR, PA, TN, TX, UT, WA

Key Responsibilities :

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Tax and Accounting Services Department (which includes Tax Preparation, Bookkeeping and Payroll Services), ensuring that all tax and accounting work is completed and processed in a timely, efficient and accurate manner
  • Manage a team of 8 Managers who oversee Tax Preparation, Bookkeeping and Payroll professionals
  • Lead team meetings, build presentations as necessary and maintain process manuals / documentation
  • Ensure that all client cases and escalations are resolved to prevent client attrition and promote subscription renewals
  • Ensure Tax and Accounting workflows and scheduling for all services are effectively and efficiently carried out for tax preparation, non-profit applications, bookkeeping, payroll, audit defense / notice resolutions, sales tax, estimated taxes.
  • Establish clear lines of communication and coordination with the offshore tax team to ensure alignment on tax compliance and planning activities
  • Manage onboarding processes to ensure tools, training and resources effectively prepare new Tax Accountants to deliver excellent tax services
  • Work with the Data Analytics team to create PowerBI reports, monitor and analyze important metrics for the day-to-day performance of operations
  • Work with the Retention and / or Billing team closely to address and resolve tax compliance-related complaints
  • Build strong cross-functional working relationships
  • Manage industry and vendor relationships, including consulting and technology companies
  • Help build a team culture that is positive, rewarding and engaging; work with the management team with coaching, mentoring and providing staff professional development / training
  • Work with the VP of Tax & Accounting Services with devising strategies to support the growth of the company, identify and implement process improvements that will increase output, improve quality and minimize costs
  • Provide feedback through regular submission of operational status reports during weekly meetings with the VP of Tax & Accounting Services
  • Participate in business development activities
  • Maintain knowledge of new tax changes and general business trends that affect our clients and our business requirements
  • Evaluate processes and controls to optimize organization's success priorities

What You'll Bring :

  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field is usually required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in tax and accounting, with 4 years in a managerial or leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading teams, managing projects, and mentoring staff members.
  • Possess a strategic mindset, capable of setting and executing the department's goals and objectives.
  • Proficiency in tax law, accounting principles, financial analysis, and regulatory compliance is necessary.
  • Familiarity with tax software (Lacerte preferred), and accounting software (such as QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effectively communicating complex tax and accounting concepts to clients, team members, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills and data driven
  • Experience working with a high volume of clients strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in process improvement and optimization.

  • Experience managing the effectiveness of Offshore Resources

  • CPA or EA

Compensation : $120,000 to $150,000
