Position Summary
The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the Universityof New Mexico (UNM) Health Sciences Center is expanding and seeks anoutstanding corneal surgeon to join our rapidly growing group.
Applicants must have completed an accredited cornea and externaldisease fellowship. Refractive surgery experience is welcome but not essential.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop a busy clinical practiceat the UNM Hospital Eye Clinic, and will share responsibility with existingfaculty for call and medical student and resident education.
Candidates areexpected to have a strong commitment to clinical care, teaching, and researchin an academic setting. As part of theUNM Health System, the Eye Clinic provides a rewarding mix of tertiary andindigent care.

The Sandia Mountain wilderness is 20 minutes from UNM. There is a lively artsscene, and we are close to the galleries of Santa Fe and Madrid, NM.
There aretwo national laboratories nearby : Sandia and Los Alamos.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications for position :
- Completion of an Ophthalmology Residency Program
- Completion of AUPO-Certified Fellowship Programin Cornea
- Board certified / eligible in Ophthalmology
- Eligible for licensure in New Mexico
- Eligible to work in the .
Preferred Qualifications for position :
- Experience in clinical education
- Experience in clinical research
- A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
- Experience in Cornea and External Diseases and Corneal Surgery
- Experience in Complex cataract and anterior segment surgery
- Experience in complex ocular surface surgery
