In the coming years, we will embark on a radical transformation of our back-end Association Management System (AMS). In addition to typical accounting duties, this position will be able to influence our future financial and operational systems.

Duties & Responsibilities :

Sitting between the Accounting Specialist and the CFO, the Assistant Controller will be responsible for a variety of tasks including but not limited to : general accounting entries, payroll accounting, limited accounts payable duties, accounts receivable, monthly reconciliations and analysis and annual audit support.

The successful candidate should be comfortable and adaptable enough to performing strategic tasks for some projects (i.e.

research accounting issues) and detailed work in other projects (i.e. reconciliations).

Accounting :

  • Assist in preparing financial statements in accordance with GAAP and within established timelines.
  • Completes end-of-month accounting reports as assigned, such as monthly sales and use tax returns, property tax, and marketing spend analysis.
  • Limited accounts payable duties such as oversight of new vendor setups, management of corporate credit cards and streamlining of the payables process.
  • Act as backup for accounts payable and daily batch reconciliations.
  • Prepare payroll and PTO journal entries, reconcile and research discrepancies.
  • Corporate Account Management (accounts receivable) - enter and monitor corporate sponsorship revenue, including billings for services and fees and providing notice to the Sales department of past due payments.
  • Assists in the preparation of the annual budget (consolidation, review and variance explanation).
  • Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents and reports.
  • Prepare monthly variance analysis and work with managers, directors and leadership team to financial results.
  • Prepare audit supporting work papers and coordinates with independent auditors.

Other :

  • Implement and maintain departmental systems and tools.
  • Assist the CFO in monitoring for financials risks and implementing appropriate controls.
  • Provide financial expertise to company-wide initiatives.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting and 5+ years of experience in Accounting.
  • Experience with accounting, operating and point of sale systems (preferred experience with Sage (our Accounting system) and NetForum (our AMS).
  • Must be able to work well with and for a variety of people.
  • Able to plan, organize and carry out work from a variety of sources in order to meet deadlines and achieve objectives.
  • Ability to influence others to embrace change. Build strong partnerships with internal customers that drive action and accountability.
  • Ability to use technology and analytics to enhance processes.
  • Ability to recognize opportunities to make recommendations and contribute accordingly.
  • Ability to explain technical financial information in an understandable manner.

IWI has a hybrid workplace in Greenwood Village, Colorado.

Salary range is $80,000 - $90,000 and is dependent on experience.
