Program Manager

San Diego Youth Services seeks a Program Manager in the Safe Family Services Program to be based at College Heights Youth Center office location.

This is a full time & exempt position reporting to the Safe Family Services Program Director.

We provide safe places to live and long-term solutions through shelter, foster homes, community centers and housing to more than 28,000 youth every year at 100+ community and school locations.

Through prevention, early intervention and treatment, we also help youth before they need higher levels of care or become homeless.

  • Help youth develop life skills. In addition to a range of safe and stable housing options, we offer support to help youth develop the independent living skills necessary to become self-sufficient and keep off the streets.
  • Promote overall health and well-being. Early intervention and care for the whole child are critical. We provide a broad continuum of services to help youth overcome trauma and challenges that put them at risk, including case management, counseling, mental health treatment and educational support and resources

SDYS has a staff of approximately 250 employees and 80 volunteers working across San Diego County and an annual budget of approximately $24 million.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION OR PROGRAM DESCRIPTION HIRING FOR

Our Safe Family Services Program offers supportive services to Transition Age Youth (TAY), ages 18-24 years old, currently in an SDYS program, who have, historically, or are currently experiencing domestic violence.

CONTEXT OF THE POSITION

Accountable to Director of Services to oversee the provision of comprehensive quality trauma-informed support services as part of the Safe Family Services Victim / Survivor Services continuum, including Domestic Violence, Child Abuse and Human Trafficking / CSEC.

Responsible for the oversight of case management services, independent living skills development, housing support, crisis response, behavioral health services, prevention groups and additional individualized services.

The Safe Family Services Program provide services in the home, at SDYS office locations and in the community throughout the county of San Diego.

Program Manager is responsible for program development and implementation, budget monitoring, overall daily functioning and quality control of services including and not limited to, monitoring intake assessment and service plans, development and maintenance of an integrated treatment approach for youth with co-occurring psychiatric and substance disorders, supervision of case management staff, general service review, contract data collection, compliance, reporting, and overall supervision of the contracted components.

Essential functions include :

Provide personnel management to include the hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of core staff, interns and volunteers.

Maintain oversight of staff productivity and service delivery, including maintaining appropriate documentation of services delivered.

  • Establish and maintain linkage relationships with agencies, organizations, civic and community groups by participating in community collaboratives, taskforce, advisory or other meetings, to collaborate and / or provide trainings on Domestic Violence and Human Trafficking.
  • Participate in planning and management of appropriate agency-wide meetings, staff development events, and committees.
  • Provide necessary timely reports and statistics / information to funding sources as required
  • Monitor budgets and comply with fiscal policies and procedures.
  • Monitor program progress achieving Statement of Work goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrate ability to work well under pressure, meet multiple and competing deadlines.
  • Perform other Duties as assigned or required.

PREFERRED PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in Social Work or related field; preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work or related field minimum, required.
  • Two years’ experience working with at-risk youth, experience with domestic violence involved clients preferred. Management experience preferred.
  • Must have or be willing to be trained 40-hour Domestic Violence counselor training, Campbell Danger Assessment, Mental Health First Aid, Seeking Safety, and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
  • Must be willing to develop or possess working knowledge of trauma-informed care and dual diagnosis treatment; experience working in trauma-informed and dual diagnosis programs preferred.
  • Record keeping, data collection and contract compliance abilities.
  • Knowledge of resources in San Diego County.
  • Must be able to work and represent a culturally and ethnically diverse community.
  • Must possess excellent oral and written skills and be able to work well autonomously and with a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Must be computer literate in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel. Demonstrate ability to work well under pressure, meet multiple and competing deadlines.
  • Cooperate and collaborate with colleagues and supervisors, and positively contribute to the culture of the program and agency.
  • Maintain certification in CPR & First Aid. Willing to complete clearance procedures such as TB, fingerprinting and background check for FBI, DOJ and CACI, as well as driving record and drug test.
  • Final offer of hire pending on results of clearances.
  • Must be available to work weekends and evenings as assigned by supervisor and / or as needed. Willingness to use vehicle to drive throughout San Diego County as position is community based (Mileage reimbursement provided).

Salary Range

$74,000 76,000 / year
