Operations Manager
Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking an Operations Manager in our Carson, California location. HFS is a business unit of Howmet Aerospace, headquartered in Torrance, California.

General Summary :
Responsible for directing manufacturing teams in obtaining efficient operation of the manufacturing activities. Maintains a customer focus (quality and on-time delivery are priorities.
Directs and supervises activities of Manufacturing Managers, Production Supervisors, Manufacturing Engineers, Leads and Operators.
Leads by example a commitment to employee involvement, participative management, and continuous improvement.
Specific Responsibilities :
- Develops and maintains manufacturing operations business plans to include all program requirements, labor hours, cycle, production costs, and image.
- Provides input to the development of product strategy and research and development of new and emerging products.
- Establishes production and quality control standards, develops budget and cost controls, and obtains data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.
- Provides guidance to the development of a manufacturing process plan, including personnel requirements, material needs, subcontract requirements, facility needs, and tooling and equipment needs.
- Ensures all established costs, quality, and delivery commitments are met.
- Coordinates manufacturing activities with all other functions of the organization and suppliers to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
- Reviews production and operating reports and directs the resolution of operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
- Performs administrative activities associated with the effective management of shop operations, including compiling, storing, and retrieving production data for reports.
- Determines responsibilities of assigned organization and staff positions to accomplish business objectives.
- Serves as subject matter expert to senior business leaders enabling project advancement through interaction across multi-level and functions.
- Leads team to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual performance goals.
- Manages Manufacturing, Heat Treat, and Plating with 100+ hourly production operators.
- Implements company policies such as attendance, overtime, safety, environmental, etc., and directs the application of such policies to the product group's operation.
- Trains and ensures all assigned employees are aware of and comply with company, government, and customer policies, procedures, and regulations.

The salary range for this position is $154K to $182K.
Qualifications
Education :
Bachelor's degree in engineering or business administration from four-year college or university.
Experience and Background :
- 8 -10 years related experience and / or training in aerospace industry.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Knowledge of MRP System Manufacturing software; Excel Spreadsheet software and Word (Microsoft Office) Word Processing software.
- May be required to travel.
