The Charge Nurse is an experienced RN with in-depth knowledge and understanding of providing and overseeing nursing care to critical patients in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit to patients.
This position requires the ability to impact care in a variety of settings. This position fulfills the roles of clinician, mentor, and educator.
This position manages the coordination of patient care throughout the critical care services division. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, directing and overseeing the daily activities of the unit and is responsible and accountable for directing and facilitating the flow of patient care activities of the department / area.
This position provides care and education for the patients based on their illness, symptoms, and courses of treatment. This position manages individualized, goal-directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
- Assesses and diagnoses patient and family needs to provide quality care to assigned patients.
- Develops, discusses, and communicates a realistic plan of care for each patient in order to address all identified needs.
- Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to implement medical plan of care, nursing interventions, and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient.
- Evaluates the identified problems, care provided, and patient’s responses are reassessed to meet patient and family needs and assure overall quality of care delivered.
- Maintains up to date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to ensure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team, to ensure quality care.
- Performs all responsibilities / duties required by the critical care unit / critical care division as defined in the scope of service, to assure that the unique nature of the client is addressed.
- This includes, but is not limited to the age of the client served.
- Maintains current knowledge / certification / in other duties as assigned to support the operational needs of the department and organization.
- May be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and / or disasters
Education
- Associate's degree in nursing Required
- BSN Preferred
Licenses and Certifications
- Registered Nurse Licensed in the State of FL
- BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS)AHA Required upon Hire
- ACLS Provider (ACLS) AHA Required within 90 Days
- National Institutes Of Health Stroke Scale (NIH) Required upon Hire
