Sentara Leigh Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for our Intermediate Care Unit (Stepdown)

This position is a part time (24 hours per week) night shift position.

Overview :

This 24-bed intermediate care unit is for patients who are too ill for general medical / surgical, but do not need an intensive level or care for the ICU.

We also provide care for thoracic surgical patients, post-surgery.

This unit welcomes new graduate nurses and experienced nurses moving into this specialty. The 11-week Transition to Practice program focuses on the orientation transition experience with intentional knowledge support and skill acquisition for practice in IMC areas.

For new graduates , this TTP program is the start of a comprehensive 6-month residency program to support your transition to practice.

Job Summary

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.

The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice / nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing.

The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.

Qualifications :

N-2YR - RN-Associate's Degree (Required), N-3YR - RN-Diploma (Non-degree) (Required), N-4YR - RN-Bachelor's Level Degree (Required), N-6YR - RN-Master's Level Degree (Required), N-DN - RN-Doctorate Level Degree
