Coordinates job assignments pertaining to the installation, repair, and maintenance of traffic signals.Monitors the district traffic signal database and updates system as required.

Makes recommendations for improving and / or upgrading existing traffic signals and flashers.Maintains records including expenses incurred by the traffic signal, traffic signal installation reports, and traffic signal preventative maintenance schedule.

Submits weekly and monthly reports pertaining to such.Provides in-shop training on traffic signal software and other related items, as it pertains to traffic signals and / or designs.

Ensures an adequate stock of digital, electric, and electronic parts for repair of traffic signals.Prepares employee performance evaluations, position description, and daily records of time in HMMS.

Assists in the repair of electronic and other related equipment as required due to damage.Responds to regular traffic signal complaints, and after-hours emergency calls promptly making necessary repairs.

Assists with inclement weather operations.Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A high school diploma and two and one-half (2.5) years of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence.

A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.

Physical Requirement : The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping and physically manipulating objects of varying size, shape, weight, and material.

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. This position requires driving for extended periods, walking, treading rough and uneven terrain, and working in close proximity to motoring traffic and natural environmental hazards.

May be subject to a certain degree of risk working with electrical currents. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and / or other departmental-related emergencies.

Frequently exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions and noise on a daily basis.
